オメガ・ スピード・マスターに触れたのでちょっと時計のことを書こう。２００２年に５０歳になった。その時、自分と同じ年の時計を買おうと思った。１９５２年製の時計を探していたら知り合いのディーラーから１９５２年製のロレックス・オイスター・バブル・バック14Ｋイエロー・ゴールド（ワン・オーナー）が手に入ったと連絡があった。これがそれである。保証書からアーカイブに至るまですべて揃っている。１９６６年と１９７８年にオーバー・ホール。オーバー・ホールはスイスで行われている。もちろん僕が購入した時にもオーバー・ホールしてもらった。付属の保証書やアーカイブには前のオーナーの氏名が書かれているのでここでは省略する。代わりにこの時計が購入された時計店の説明書をここでお見せしたい。当時は時計屋でこんなオリジナルの取扱説明書が作成されていたのだ。伊勢伊時計店はロレックスの特約販売店だったようだ。現在存在しているのかは調べていないので判らないがとても丁寧な説明書である。前のオーナーがどんな理由でこの時計を手放したのか、その事情は知る由もない。“Silence is Golden”と言う諺がある。このちょっと鈍い金色の輝きは何も語らないが、僕に辿り着くまでの５０年の時が静かに眠っている。
