シエナより愛をこめて

今イタリアにいる。友人の車でローマからフィレンツェに移動中、トスカナ州のシエナでランチを取った。シエナの大聖堂（Duomo Siena)はイタリア・ゴシック建築の代表作のひとつである。白と黒の大理石が交互に重ねられ水平線が強調されている。真っ青な夏空にそびえ立つ大聖堂はなんだかボーダー柄のシャツを思い出す。１２世紀の頃から変わらない町並み。今もそこに人々は暮らしている。そんな中、小さな若者向けのセレクト・ショップを見つけた。ショー・ウィンドウに飾られたコンバースがROCKER AND HOOKERの竹酢コンバースにそっくりなのでちょっとびっくりした。染料が何なのか解らないがくすんだ染めの着色がとてもいい雰囲気を醸し出している。ファッションはやはりアイデアである。何か手を加える事によって世界で唯一のオリジナルが誕生する。これまでROCKER AND HOOKERではTOKYOコレクション２００７に出展した中野恵介、そしてREBIRTH OF FUTUREの柳葉高志と言う若手のデザイナーと巡り会った。既成のものに満足出来ずまず自分が着たいものを作る、工夫する。そんなところから彼等の服作りは始まっている。デザイナーを志望する動機の原点なんだと思う。これからもROCKER AND HOOKERはそんなデザイナー、あるいはデザイナー志望の人たちに場を提供したい。支援したい。中目黒駅開発によりガード下の店舗はそれぞれ立ち退き移動をしなくてはならない。ROCKER AND HOOKER も９月いっぱいで中目黒を去る。新たな店舗の詳細は決まり次第ここで告知するつもりだ。是非、新しい人材との巡り会いにも期待したい。我こそはと思わんデザイナー、そしてセレクト・ショップ・プロデュースに携わってみたい方は連絡乞う。
